Blog 14: Stop Violence

1. What can a woman do to reduce her risk of assault?

Last time in my fitness and health class, we have a speaker who talks about in how a woman permits violence against them. It was very difficult to talk about this issue, because we get to the point that, today many women do not report violence against men with the police due to important factors in their family. But, at the end of the discussion we end with the point that the violence will continued, if women do not report this to the police. However, every day a women who do not report this to the police, it is killed by his own boyfriend or husband.

I would like to talk about on how my country faces to many issues about this problem. Mexico is a country which faces the problem of “Machismo” which means a man who wants to dominate his wife completely. Marisol mentions also this problem in her blog because it is very true that many Mexican women never report any type of violence against men. Even know many women get beat by his husband many times they still doing nothing about it.

I believed the best decision a woman can do to stop this problem is by reporting any type of violence or if they do not want to reported then can look for professional help. There are many free ways to look for professional help, also many organizations are open for persons who have this type of problems. I think you just need to do it because tomorrow can be very late.

  1. I agree with you. Nothing is going to change unless woman start reporting it. But the truth is that i think many woman depend on there male financially, that she why they don't report it. I also think that they believe that he will change. I'm not sure how we can MAKE woman report violence.

  2. I agree that women should report any violent act that is acted against her because it can stop the cycle. Women are not to be abused or allow abuse because it can definitely lead to death. If we want to lower assault statistics then women are going to have to report the abuse when it happens and get away from it.

  3. I agree. I think that so many women do not report assault because of scaredom. What many women do not realize is that the situation will only get worst especially if they are in a relationship.

  4. Women should start reporting assaults and be more educated about different types of assault. I agree with you that this assaults can lead to death and preventive measures should be taking by women to limit their chances of being abused.

  5. I enjoyed your post about "Machismo"..I think this is very sad for females who suffer abuse in the Mexican culture. These women often endure physical and emotional abuse by the male of the household and the sad thing is that it is somewhat expected and normal in their culture.
